What is printed packing tape?

It is sealing tape with your design added. A logo, name, pattern or message repeats along the roll. Tear off any length and the design comes with it.

Picture a kraft roll with a bold black store name. Picture a white roll with a small logo and a web address. Or a bright solid roll with a pattern running through it. All of these are possible.

Tape belongs with the packing supplies and inserts we make, alongside dividers and paper fill.

Why choose printed tape instead of printed boxes?

A printed box needs a separate print run for every size. Tape does not care about size. One roll brands a small mailer, a big carton and any odd box you reuse.

That makes tape an easy first step for a growing shop. Buy plain boxes, seal them with your tape, and save full box printing for your best sellers. Many brands keep using tape even after they switch.

When you are ready to go further, our custom printed boxes in your own sizes can match the same colors.

Who orders printed packing tape?

Anyone who ships boxes and wants them recognized when they land on a porch. A seller packing ten orders a week gets the same lift as a warehouse packing thousands.

Tape also pairs well with plain cardboard boxes without any print, since the tape supplies the branding.

  • Etsy and Shopify sellers sealing daily orders
  • Subscription brands shipping monthly boxes
  • Warehouses marking outbound cartons
  • Restaurants sealing catering and takeout boxes
  • Offices sending client gifts and mailings
  • Moving and storage companies labeling cartons

What should I print on packing tape?

Keep it short and bold. Tape is narrow, and most people see it from a few feet away or on a doorbell camera.

A logo with a web address is the most common choice. A thank-you line suits gift sellers. Handling words such as Fragile or This Side Up help carriers treat the box with care.

A repeating pattern in your brand colors can work with no words at all. Skip long sentences and tiny type. They blur at tape width.

Which print option fits my design?

The number of colors changes the look and the effort. Fewer colors give a punchy, simple mark. Full color handles detail.

Print optionWhat you getGood for
One colorSingle ink on kraft or white tapeBold logos and web addresses
Two colorTwo inks, such as logo plus taglineBrands with a two-tone mark
Full color CMYKPhoto-style color and gradientsPatterns, mascots and artwork

Should I pick kraft, white or colored tape?

Kraft tape melts into a kraft box, so the print looks stamped on the carton. Black or white ink reads best there, and the result feels natural and calm.

White tape makes any ink color pop. It is the safe pick for logos with several colors. A solid colored background turns the tape itself into the feature.

If you want a bright shade with no logo, see our colored packing tape in solid shades.

How do I tape a box so the logo looks right?

A tidy seal looks deliberate and keeps your print straight. A few seconds of care at the packing bench makes a visible difference.

  1. Close the flaps fully so the top sits flat.
  2. Line the tape up with the center seam before you press down.
  3. Run it over the seam and about 2 to 3 in down each side.
  4. Smooth the strip with your palm to push out air and wrinkles.
  5. Repeat on the bottom, and add a strip across each end on heavier boxes.

What mistakes should I avoid with printed tape?

The most common one is squeezing a wide logo onto narrow tape. The small text turns to mush. Use a simplified version, or just the icon.

Another is a repeat that is too long. If the design shows up once every foot, a short strip may show nothing. A tighter repeat puts your brand on every piece.

Last, check contrast. Light gray ink on kraft tape vanishes on a porch.

Does branded tape show if a box was opened?

It helps. Someone who cuts a box open and reseals it rarely owns your printed tape. A strip of plain tape across your logo stands out right away.

That makes it handy for valuable orders and for returns. Ask your packers to flag any box that comes back with mismatched tape.

Warehouses use the idea in reverse. Receiving staff can check that a supplier's printed seal is unbroken before they sign.

What roll count suits my shipping volume?

Start with a typical month of orders. A small mailer usually takes one strip. A carton sealed top and bottom takes two, and a heavy one may take four.

Measure one strip of each kind and add up a month of boxes. Divide that total by the roll length in your quote. You now have a monthly roll count.

Order two or three months at a time so a busy week does not catch you short. New shops can start smaller, see the tape on real orders, then reorder. For other ways to trim shipping costs, read our guide to cheaper box shipping.

How do I order printed packing tape?

Prices start from $0.30 a box across our range, and the exact figure for your tape arrives in the quote by email within one business day. Printed Packing Tape: questions

12 answers
What can I print on packing tape?

Logos, web addresses, short messages, handling warnings and repeating patterns all print well on tape.

How often does the design repeat?

It repeats along the whole roll, so each strip you tear off carries your artwork.

Can tape be printed in full color?

Yes. Choose one color, two color or full color CMYK, including solid background shades.

Is kraft or white tape better?

Kraft blends into brown boxes for a natural look. White makes multi-color logos stand out.

Will the roll fit my tape gun?

Rolls come on a cardboard core sized for a standard tape gun.

How wide is printed packing tape?

About 2 in (48 mm) is common. Ask for another width and we confirm it in your quote.

Can I print my return address?

Yes. A return address or web address is among the most popular tape designs.

Does printed tape help show tampering?

It can. A box resealed with plain tape looks different next to your printed strip.

Can you match my brand color?

Send your color reference and we match it as closely as we can on the proof.

Can you build the tape repeat from just my logo?

Yes. A logo file is enough. Our designers set up the repeat at no charge.

Do I see a proof first?

Yes. You get a free design proof, and nothing prints until you approve it.

How soon will my printed tape ship?

Once you approve the proof, your rolls take 4 to 6 business days to print and pack. Free tracked US shipping then adds 2 to 3 business days.
